About hornbows
There are some important things ot know about hornbows.
After stringing they are not symmetric at all. They must be set. Set quickly and confidently. This means the following:
String the bow very slowly. Limbs bend really slowly.
Right after stringing correct the asymmetry very quickly. Within seconds tilt it over, tilt opposite to the deformation – two or three times more than it has bended. Then set it back.
This must be done especially after the bow has not been strung for a long time or if we buy an extremely C shaped bow.
The other thing is regarding hornbows that their material is never homogenous. This means that teh surface of the sinew, the bone plate and the horn plate is NEVER smooth.
Grooves or any roughnesses always occur in the horn.
Please only buy a hornbow if you can respect these, if you count these and trust our knowledge completely.
